Mid-America Competing Band Directors Association
"For Better Bands."

The Mid-America Competing Band Directors Association, or MACBDA, is an association currently made up of 30 band directors and their bands who participate annually in a summer marching, parade, and concert band competition circuit.  Our season begins in the third week of June and concludes by mid-July.

Why MACBDA?
  • Musicianship - Members of MACBDA bands practice and perform daily during our season, making it a musical learning experience of unrivaled intensity.
  • Friendship - MACBDA is an association of band directors who are friends first and foremost.  Members of MACBDA bands build lasting and meaningful friendships each and every summer.
  • Sportsmanship - We strive for the best in healthy competition.  The competition in the MACBDA circuit is geared toward creating better bands, not beating other groups.
  • Advocacy - MACBDA is dedicated to the promotion of the finest aspects of music education.  As well, many bands who participate in the MACBDA summer circuit qualify for state summer school money - funds which are often scarce in these tight-budget times, and can make all the difference in your struggle to maintain a quality program.
